Some people may be concerned that exercise during cancer treatment could be harmful, but the National Cancer Institute has said that exercise during treatment is beneficial and could help lead towards recovery, though it is necessary to select a low intensity form of exercise, which is what makes Pilates such a great choice. Pilates is very low impact, and many of the exercises can be modified depending on an individual’s needs and abilities. Patients that have mesothelioma and other types of cancers can benefit in more than one way. In addition to assisting with maintaining muscle strength, Pilates work to reduce overall stress and increase flexibility.
